MUSEO MARÍTIMO - DRASSANES IN BARCELONA
Address: Av. De les Drassanes, s / n, 08001 Barcelona
The Maritime Museum of Barcelona is located in the former building of the Royal Ataranzas, a space formerly dedicated to naval construction between the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries, so that in its library it keeps valuable material from the Nautical School of Barcelona.
It was founded as a museum in 1941, and could not be inaugurated before due to the attacks of the Civil War.
It is from 1999 when it begins to open more to the public, giving some of its spaces for activities and / or external events.
The building, in Gothic style, maintains important aspects of its original structure despite the reforms and extensions made. The last and most important in 1985, where he went on to have extensive facilities, mostly intended for exhibition spaces, but also has a large garden area and other places for services.
